This afternoon I am attending my 3rd Christmas party of the week!! This, to me, is just delightful as I have been in an extra Chirstmasy mood since, oh, about Thanksgiving! I had my Christmas shopping completed by December 6th, but my Christmas tree has been up and decorated since November 23rd. Hehe.... I know, a little cheesy, but hey, a little cheese never hurt anyone!
I don't know why the Christmas spirit is so richly embedded in my psyche this year, but I am thankful it is. I feel like I am enjoying all of the little things that generally would annoy me this time of year, like the hustle and bustle, and the music. Heck, I didn't even mind spending money on gifts because all I could think about was how pretty they were going to look under my tree all wrapped and labeled.
Maybe I am so cheerful and bubbly about Christmas because my husband and I are doing something this year that we haven't done perhaps EVER... we are staying home for Christmas. All. Day. Long. Home! You know what that means.... we have all day to drink hot chocolate in our pajamas, watch Christmas movies (there are going to be Home Alone AND A Christmas Story showing all day!), and play with all our toys! Oh, and we are having a dinner, too.
I am going to miss not seeing our family on Christmas day, but sometimes a gal's gotta do what a gal's gotta do. This year, that means staying home and relaxing for the first Christmas in my adult history!
I am also particularly excited about dinner. We are doing a very "seafood" Christmas this year. On the menu is a great antipasto platter for appetizers. Dinner is going to be individual lobster thermidor, oyster stuffing, and fried brussel sprouts drizzled with balsamic vinegar. It's going to be perfect, even if it's not totally perfect.
So BIW wants to know, what are your plans for the perfect Christmas this year? Are you traveling, staying home, or a little of both? Are you feeling the Christmas spirit, or are you all bah-humbuggy? I want to know! Share in the comments section below :)
Happy Holidays!

Happy Holidays!
I am incredibly jealous of your Christmas-at-home. This is possibly the first time (at least that I can remember) where I can't stay in PJs for most of the day! My fiance and I are driving to Maine for Christmas breakfast at his grandmother's, which means I have to wake up and hit the road by 6am. Needless to say, I am so not a morning person, and the last several years, I've slept in until 10am on Christmas and stayed in pajamas until noon (at least). I just want to hibernate at home with the cats and spiked hot chocolate! But alas, relationships require compromise.
ReplyDeleteThat is so true about compromise! I know what you mean, though... Christmas is so much fun when it's a lazy day (or so I THINK I remember! haha.)
ReplyDeleteSpending time with family is also priceless.... but UGH at the 6am thing! LOL
Super jealous of your Christmas dinner, sounds amazing!
