Bossy Italian Book Review: If You Have to Cry, Go Outside By Kelly Cutrone

I read one quote from this book and instantly purchased it. Look, I'm not going to lie, I loved the Hills and The City, where Cutrone first came on my radar, and I love her on America's Next Top Model too. But she is a lot more than either of those shows would ever give her credit. Kelly Cutrone is a woman's woman, and a super role model for the entrepreneur.

Simply put, this booked kicks serious butt and is something that every woman should read to boost her self confidence and get a good dose of goddess! Personally, I really related to parts of this book--and I felt completely empowered by it. The way Cutrone has built her life is what we should all strive for.

Cutrone knows herself, makes no apologies for who she is, and has built her brand by staying true to herself...no who doesn't want to be all those things?!?! I know I do, and I strive for it everyday. Her book, If You Have to Cry, Go Outside, really lays out how you can remain authentic, honest and hardcore in all the best ways.

And the stories! This woman has really had quite a life. From the streets of NYC to the beaches of California. From party "It" girl to the wife of Andy Warhol's protege to a tarot card reader to PR maven extraordinaire--she's done it, and she's learned immeasurably about herself.

One of things that spoke to me the most in this book was the fact that you have to follow your dreams. I really believe this is an essential part of life and happiness. Following your dreams is different for everyone, but one thing remains the same: society seems to want a very followed path for us as women and it is as follows. Grow up, meet a man, get married, make babies. Cutrone challenges this societal norm and asks us to follow our hearts, even if the order doesn't look like what society planned.

I was most struck by this about her book...especially at my age where a lot of my friends seem to be a hurry to have it all, get married to the "man of their dreams," and have a house, babies, and live happily ever after. The heck will "happy ever after" mean to you if you wake up and find yourself living someone else's life?

A quick read with attitude, Cutrone will have you ready to take on the world, one day at a time!
